Second-line mental health services

CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest

The adult second-line mental health service treats adults with a serious mental health disorder and severe functional impairments (e.g., recurrence, intensity, therapeutic failure).

Problems

  • Trauma and stressor-related disorders
  • Anxiety disorders
  • Obsessive-compulsive and related disorders
  • Depressive disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Antisocial personality disorder (assessment)
  • Severe personality disorder or personality disorder with severe comorbidity
  • Somatic symptom disorder
  • Schizophrenia spectrum and other psychotic disorders
  • Bipolar and related disorders
  • Eating disorders

 

This service offers assessments, and psychiatric and biopsychosocial follow-ups. Group therapy is available, consisting of a varied program of activities, including a borderline personality disorder treatment group and an extensive rehabilitation program (overall health, managing emotions, “J’active mes neurones,” exposure, life project, motivation, dynamic relaxation, support with psychotic disorders, mentalization-based therapy, sports in the gym).

Referrals

Referrals can come from various hospital departments: psychiatric emergency, brief intervention unit, inpatient psychiatry unit. They can also come from the adult mental health access desk. A referral from a general practitioner is preferred.
