Visiting hours and information

General information

Barrie Memorial Hospital

  • All users admitted or residents may receive visitors.
  • When the user or resident occupies a semi-private room or ward, the number of visitors is limited to two.
  • Visiting hours for the immediate family and loved ones are from 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. every day.
  • Other visitors are welcome between 2 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. every day.


Specific information

Cardiac Monitoring Unit

  • Visits from the immediate family (persons 12 years of age or over) are permitted every day, from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
  • The maximum number of visitors authorized is two persons at a time.
  • Plants and flowers are prohibited on the premises.
  • Washing hands is required on entering and leaving the Unit.

Emergency Care Service

  • A user in the Emergency may be accompanied by one person.
  • When the user remains under observation in the Emergency or is waiting to be admitted, the person accompanying them must leave at 8:30 p.m. unless the user is under the age of 14 years or the person requires a companion.
  • A user under observation or waiting to be admitted may receive a visit from one person at a time (person aged 12 years or over) from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Palliative care

  • Visits are permitted 24 hours a day without restriction other than the usual rules of conduct for a visitor.

Residential centre

  • The special nature of a living environment requires that visits should be permitted at any time, without restriction other than the usual rules of conduct for a visitor.
