Day Centres

There is one Day Centre on the territory of the CSSS du Haut-Saint-Laurent, the Day Centre of Ormstown. This centre receives, during the day, elderly persons whose capacity to live at home is compromised for reasons of physical, psychological or social difficulties.

The programming of Day Centre includes therapeutic activities on an individual or group basis which try to:

  • maintain the autonomy of elderly persons;
  • help elderly persons to stay as long as possible in their communit`y;
  • develop their functional capacities;
  • offer respite to loved ones.

Admission criteria

People interested in attending the Day Centre must:

  • live in the territory served by the CSSS du Haut-Saint-Laurent;
  • live at home and present signs of a loss of autonomy;
  • be motivated to participate in the activities and accept the intervention plan proposed by the interdisciplinary team.

Services offered by the Day Centre

The Day Centre teams are made up of nurses, physical rehabilitation therapists, workshop animators.

The organised activities play an important role in maintaining functional capacities and for the socialisation of people particularly those who live alone or suffer from isolation.

The Day Centre d’Ormstown receives 15 to 20 people a day from Tuesday to Friday. The transport is by adapted transport service.
