Through the use of technical aids, the Assistive devices program (PATCom) aims to compensate for disabilities in people aged 0-100 who present with speech and writing challenges or with difficulty controlling their environment.
The assistive devices are grouped into six categories:
- speech aids;
- augmentative communication devices;
- adaptive writing tools;
- environmental control units;
- computer access aids;
- adaptive telephone equipment.
This service is provided with a referral from a health and social services professional. The disabled person must submit the physical disability service request form, along with official reports specifying the eligible PD diagnosis and documenting the current level of functioning (by an occupational therapist or speech language pathologist), to the ID-ASD-PD access desk of the CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest.
