The musculoskeletal clinic (MSQ)

CISSS de la Montérégie-Ouest

The musculoskeletal clinic (MSQ)

The MSQ clinic is the result of a collaboration with Santé Québec and the Institut de la pertinence des actes médicaux (IPAM). It provides short-term rehabilitation services to users with musculoskeletal disorders.

The services are intended for adults waiting for a consultation with a specialist in orthopedic surgery, physiatry, neurosurgery, or hand surgery.

 Clinic mission and objectives

  • Expand services for users with musculoskeletal disorders by coordinating with other complementary services.
  • Ensure referrals to specialists are appropriate and limit unnecessary consultation requests.
  • Reduce wait times for a new consultation with a specialist.

 How the clinic works

  • The MSQ clinic offers assessments and short-term follow-up for adult users with musculoskeletal disorders who are waiting to see a specialist.
  • An initial assessment is done by a physiotherapist at the clinic, always in person at one of our facilities.
  • An intervention plan is then developed with the user, based on the needs and targeted objectives.
  • The number of sessions offered by the MSQ clinic varies based on individual needs, ranging from 1 to 5 appointments. Some follow-up appointments may be done online (telerehabilitation), if safe and appropriate.

The MSQ clinic serves Hôpital du Suroît, Barrie Memorial Hospital, Clinique de physiothérapie ambulatoire de Vaudreuil and Centre ambulatoire de Châteauguay. Appointments will be assigned based on user preference, although the availability of time slots at each facility may vary.

The team

The team at the MSQ clinic is made up of various specialists in musculoskeletal disorders (physiotherapist, occupational therapist, physiotherapy technologist, social worker, etc.) who work together to provide comprehensive user care and the necessary follow-ups. Our administrative staff will also be pleased to assist you.

Access to the clinic

Currently, only users registered with the Centre de répartition des demandes de service (CRDS) and awaiting a consultation in orthopedic surgery, physiatry, neurosurgery, or plastic surgery may be seen at the MSQ clinic.

We do not accept direct referrals.
