Do you have doubts or questions about intellectual disability (ID) or autism spectrum disorder (ASD)? Do you need support?
Contact the psychosocial intake department at your local CLSC, which will analyze your needs and refer you to the relevant services.
What is an intellectual disability?
Intellectual disability is a disability characterized by significant limitations both in intellectual functioning and in adaptive behaviour, which covers a range of everyday social and practical skills. The impairments appear before age 18.
What is autism spectrum disorder?
Autism spectrum disorder is a neurodevelopmental disorder that significantly affects social interaction, communication and behaviour. It also manifests in the form of atypical behaviours and the development of narrow or extreme interests in specific topics. People with ASD are a highly heterogeneous group; depending on the type of impairment, they will need different types of support.
The Vallée midwifery services are front-line services that complement existing perinatal services. They provide pregnancy follow-up, group prenatal classes, necessary services during childbirth, and postpartum follow-up for up 6 weeks for both the mother and the baby.
