Sexually transmitted and blood-borne infections (STBBI)

The STBBI screening service is intended for people aged 25 and over who do not have symptoms.

If you do not have symptoms: You can book an appointment for an STBBI screening test (syphilis, gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, hepatitis B or C) without having to see a doctor first. At your appointment, you will be assessed by a nurse, who will coordinate the tests and follow-up care. This service is free.

Appointments can be booked on Clic Santé. A central telephone line is also available for booking appointments: 1-877-817-5279.

If you have symptoms: You need to make an appointment with your family doctor. If you do not have a family doctor, you can book an appointment through the Primary Care Access Point (PCAP) by filling out this form: gap.soinsvirtuels.gouv.qc.ca. If you need help completing it, dial 811 and select option 3.

Examples of common symptoms:

  • Pain or burning when urinating
  • Unusual discharge (clear, yellow, greenish, thick, bloody) from the penis, anus, or vagina
  • Bleeding between menstrual periods
  • Pain in the lower abdomen, testicles, or anus
  • Sores, ulcers, or bumps on the genitals, anus, or mouth
  • Genital warts (small growths that may look like cauliflower)
  • Redness, itching, irritation
  • Fever
  • Significant fatigue
  • Swollen lymph nodes (groin, neck, armpits)
  • Muscle pain

Users who have a requisition for a blood test must select the “Specimens and Blood Test” service from the main menu on Clic Santé.

Users aged 24 and under must choose the Youth Clinic option on Clic Santé to book an appointment (services offered at their local CLSC).

The screening tests use either a self-collected sample (produced on site) or a blood test, depending on the type of STBBI being screened for.

Chronic diseases (diabetes and cholesterol)

Screening for type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular risk (cholesterol testing) helps detect these conditions early. You can book an appointment for a test without having to see a doctor first. A nurse will do the assessment and confirm whether you are eligible for the service; if so, they will determine which screening test is most appropriate for your situation.

At your appointment, you will be assessed by a nurse, who will coordinate the tests and follow-up care. You will be referred to a doctor if needed.

Who is eligible?

  • People between the ages of 18 and 75;
  • People who have not been diagnosed with prediabetes, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, or high blood pressure requiring treatment (medication for blood sugar, blood pressure, or cholesterol).

How can I make an appointment?

Appointments can be booked on Clic Santé. A central telephone line is also available for booking appointments: 1-877-817-5279.
